The Riser Under a Brick Patio
One homeowner’s septic tank sat underneath a brick paver patio. Reaching the lid meant taking part of the patio apart whenever the tank needed service.
Keith pulled up the pavers over the tank, set a riser so the lid could be reached from the surface, and then reset the pavers around it. The patio went back together, and the lid is now reachable without taking it apart again.

- Find and uncover the lid. He locates the tank and digs down to the access opening.
- Check the opening. He confirms its size and shape so the riser fits.
- Set the riser. The riser is cut to the height needed to reach the surface.
- Fasten and seal it. The riser is secured to the tank and sealed against leaks and odor.
- Backfill and level. He fills in around it, tamps the soil, and sets the lid level with the ground.
